Attached lids for single-use plastic bottles (up to 3-litre capacity) were first proposed five years ago, and they’ll become mandatory in July 2024 across the EU. Because of Brexit, the UK isn’t required to sign up to the new rules and can make an independent decision on cap tethering.
This simple yet ingenious innovation ensures that caps are properly disposed of and makes the recycling process more efficient and environmentally friendly. By keeping caps tethered to their bottles, we are taking a significant step towards reducing plastic pollution and promoting a circular economy.
This small change in packaging design has the potential to have a massive impact on the planet, reminding us that even the smallest adjustments can make a world of difference in the fight against waste and pollution.
